On a December night in 2008 this area of New Hampshire was hit by a devastating ice storm that has left over 1/2 of New Hampshire residents without power. Little did we know, it would be for two weeks! To make matters worse the daytime high temperature was14 degree F.
The lesson here is to be prepared for power outages.
Don't purchase just any generator. If hard times or disaster hit. Buy a generator you and your family can bet your lives on. The military did !
A generator can give power to a great deal of the amenities that you are used to having on a daily basis. The lights and electricity in your home will be powered by the generator, as well as your heat and water. This means that hot water is able to be used for showers, or whatever may be necessary, during a blackout. This machine will also keep your freezer and refrigerator running, ensuring that your food does not go bad and that you will be able to feed your family. Generators can also give you access to your home phone, television, or computer. When using the generator during an outage you will want to make sure that you are using it only for the necessities. Making sure that the electric load that you are placing on the device is not exceeding the rating n the generator is also a good idea.
Generators can keep you and your family safe during a electrical outage, making sure that you have access to a comfortable indoor climate that is safe from the storm. Investing in one of these machines is not only a convenience, but a safety precaution.
Why buy a Diesel Generator?
Diesel generators are more reliable. The easiest way for me to explain why is Diesel fuel is basically a light grade oil. Inside any internal combustion engine there are many moving parts that create friction. Gasoline and propane are solvent based fuels which promote friction and wear. Diesel being a lubricant reduces friction and wear. If you ever do need to work on a diesel generator they are simple. All you need to make a Diesel run is air compression and fuel. Diesels engines have none of the typical problem causing items that plague gasoline and propane generators. No spark plugs no points and no carburetor. How long will a Diesel generator last?
With proper maintenance a high quality Diesel generator will last indefinitely. It is important to change the oil regularly and keep the air filter clean. Clean fuel is extremely important.

These generators are the active models the Military currently uses in the field. They're not old dogs from WWII or Vietnam, they're what our Military currently depends on in the field for electrical power.
